ZJY releases FTTD Solution based on PON technology
By responding the trend of "Optical Fiber Substituting Copper Wiring", Shenzhen ZJY Patent City Co. Ltd. has initially released POF FTTD solution based on EPON technology in the World. Meanwhile, the cost of fiber is getting lower, PON technology is being matured, more and more places, like government, enterprise, education, medical facility, intelligent building, residential area, industrial park, hotel, Customer Premise Network (CPN), Local Area Network (LAN) and the places have requirements in lightning proof, electromagnetic shield, security and surveillance, are mostly accepting FTTx Network Model, then FTTD is becoming the goal of wired access network.
xPON is the best technology of FTTx, and FTTx is the typical application of xPON. The current basic structure of EPON and GPON are formed by Optical Line Terminal (OLT), Optical Network Unit (ONU) and Optical Distribution Network (ODN). Most consumers are still using copper cable for the connection method, because the construction cost and installation difficulty of glass fiber network are much higher, glass fiber's connector is not suitable for multiple actions, and also its high requirements to the environment. As the media for the terminal access for replacing the system formed by glass fiber and copper wires, POF is a product providing features such as soft, bendable, high tolerance to vibrations, low manufacturing cost and easy to install. The system is using 1mm diameter POF cable with 150-200dB/km attenuation, and coated by fire retardant material into 1.5 or 2.2 mm duplex optical fiber. Weight of 100 meters POF cable is less than 800g, tensile strength over 140N. When deviation of connection center of POF core is less than 30µm, and nearly no impact to the coupling loss. POF has more advantages than other network transmission media (like CAT5/6), soft and ultra-thin jacketed POF can be easily deployed in new construction or retrofit installations either inside wall cavities or outside the wall - along baseboards, under carpets, or anywhere cable is typically run. POF can be cut by POF cutter or even by a regular knife, and no special tools required. POF uses a visible eye-safe red light to transfer data from one device to another, and can be easily cut into the right length by end-users, that is very suitable for the place with many connection points. ISPs, property developers, builders and end-users will gain significant profit from the installation that is fast, flexible and easy.
The average manufacturing cost for every single information point in this POF system is lower then other shielded system, that conserves copper resources and reduce costs from installation and maintenance.
